Here and There They Say

So many walk here and there they say,
listening to the words of the Gods to whom they pray.
So many walk here and there they say,
though they will not believe the word until it is their judgment day.
So many walk here and there they say,
As they walk on through the forest it all seems to stay the same.
So many walk here and there they say,
Even when the sun is rising through the clouds that reign so gray.

So many walk here and there they say,
wondering if tomorrow will be better than today.
So many walk here and there they say,
playing risky business with the games they choose to play.
So many walk here and there they say,
I wonder if they’ll listen to the words the wise men say.
So many walk here and there they say,
if the weary were not wounded would they still be on display?

If the shadows were not cooler would they still be hard to take,
if there was nothing left to wager would a thing still be at stake?
If the youth did not grow older would there still be much to learn,
if the rain forever vanished would the fires ever burn?
If these questions all had answers would the world be at ease,
if the voice of voiceless people boomed would any hear their pleas?

So many walk here and there they say,
looking for the answers to the questions of the day.
So many walk here and there they say,
if they all would just stop walking what’d be left for them to say?
